What is the role of Language in understanding Afro-Latinx identity?

In Spanish "lengua" translates both as "tongue" and "language" which perfectly captures the intimacy of how words do not only express the concrete actions of our lives but also express the abstract parts of our experiences that we construct.

This site uses a variety of words (some of which may be unfamiliar to readers) to express aspects of Afro-Latinx identity and the various experiences that it manifests as.

To help with terms, this site will use "constructed" definitions to help build a consistency in how they are used (and hopefully understood) across Voz Afro. Hopefully, this will provide a consistent meaning across contexts for readers and learners!
